Glucosamine Chondroitin 50/50% Mix:

This is a proprietary blend of Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Pacific Shark Cartilage and Chondroitin Sulfate from Shark origin.  Again, these are only the highest quality human grade supplements.  All the research on Chondroitin has shown that the Shark material is more readily absorbable and has much better value as a dietary supplement.  Pacific Shark Cartilage has Chondroitin and Glucosamine as well as other valuable trace minerals.  We blend these three products until we come to a 50% glucosamine & 50% Chondroitin ratio.

Glucosamine is the most well studied ingredient in joint supplements.  Glucosamine is the basic building block of all connective tissues, including cartilage, in all forms of life.  It is also effective in relieving pain, sometimes in as short a time as 10 to 14 days.  Studies have shown that it can slow cartilage breakdown and may encourage healing.  An effective dose is 6,000 to 10,000 mg per day.  The 10,000 mg dose is usually needed for horses that are being worked.  This higher level is also recommended during the first week or two of any horse’s treatment, known as the “loading” period, which helps get a therapeutic level of the material into the horse’s system.

Chondroitin is a major structural component of cartilage, bone and tough connective tissues.  Its greatest benefit appears to be prevention of further cartilage breakdown.  An effective dose is between 1,250 and 5,000 mg per day.

The most recent research is showing superior results when both Glucosamine and Chondroitin are used in combination with one another.  The results support that these materials, when working together at the correct dosages, provide superior joint health benefits.
